Commission reviews SFO Terminal 3 connector and Millbrae campus plans; consent calendar carried

At the Aug. 5 meeting, Civic Design Review Committee Chair Abby Schneier summarized two design items the committee reviewed in July.
Schneier described the SFO Terminal 3 West Modernization Courtyard 4 connector (referred to as C4C), highlighting design changes that produced a five-sided form to better accommodate programmatic needs, facade treatments tuned to sun exposure, and circulation links between terminals. The committee also heard a conceptual proposal for the Millbrae Campus improvements, which includes a master plan with site work, a new laboratory and administration building, a wellness pavilion, adaptive reuse of existing retail into shops and industrial spaces, and preservation of a redwood grove at the site.
During the consent portion of the meeting the commission moved to approve the consent calendar (subitems 7.1 and 7.2). Commissioner Beltran moved and Commissioner Schneier seconded; there was no public comment and the motion carried unanimously. Earlier, the commission also moved to approve the July minutes (Commissioner Beltran moved; Commissioner Schneier seconded) and that motion carried unanimously as well.
Recorded formal actions at the meeting were limited to approval of the minutes and the consent calendar; no ordinance, resolution, or policy change was adopted in the session.
