The Planning Commission approved a conditional use authorization allowing Earth Bar (the merged operation of Project Juice and Earth Bar) to operate at an existing Valencia Street storefront.
Staff presented the formula‑retail analysis and found that adding Earth Bar would keep the formula‑retail share within the commission’s guideline for the 300‑foot radius and recommended approval. Kate McGee, planning consultant for the applicant, said the merger preserves the same staff, menu and community ties while keeping the storefront active. Project representatives emphasized merchant and customer support and a history of community engagement, and the applicant noted no interior tenant improvements were proposed.
After a short public comment period in which the sponsor reiterated community partnerships and the retention of an 11‑person workforce, the Commission voted unanimously to approve the conditional use authorization with standard conditions.
