Planning Commission actions at a glance: continuances, minutes, CUAs and approvals
Summary
On Jan. 28 the Planning Commission unanimously continued several items, adopted minutes, and approved multiple conditional-use authorizations including 77 Geary (6–1), 653–656 Fell St (7–0), The Academy at 2166 Market (7–0), and the AT&T facility at 590 Second Ave (7–0).
The San Francisco Planning Commission took several procedural and consent actions and voted on multiple land-use items on Jan. 28.
Procedural items
- The commission approved continuances as proposed for several items (including the temporary use of hotels/motels for permanent supportive housing) after public comment; motion passed unanimously 7–0 (SEG 135–156). - Draft minutes for the Jan. 14, 2021 meeting were adopted unanimously 7–0 (SEG 163–182).
Conditional-use authorizations and other approvals
- 77 Geary (C3-R downtown retail): Conditional-use authorization to allow ~12,000 sq ft of office on the third floor was approved 6–1 (Commissioner Imperial opposed) (SEG 1716–1740). - 653–656 Fell Street (Section 3.17 residential reinstatement): Staff recommended approval to reinstate two residential units and restore a historic façade; the commission approved unanimously 7–0 (SEG 2043–2063). - The Academy, 2166 Market Street (bar concurrent with general entertainment): Staff recommended approval and the commission granted the CUA unanimously 7–0 (SEG 2342–2361). - AT&T 590 Second Ave (wireless facility): After a lengthy public hearing and staff review of alternatives, the commission approved the CUA unanimously 7–0 (SEG 3070–3091).
Each action listed above is recorded in the meeting minutes and the Planning Department project files; for items that include developer commitments or follow-up (for example the Parcel F development agreement and the AT&T site), the relevant implementing departments (OCII, Department of Public Health, DBI) will manage follow-up tasks.
