On Nov. 12 Planning staff and Lennar Urban updated the commission on refinements to the Candlestick Point/Hunters Point master plan and the Design for Development (D for D) anticipated for a December hearing.
Lennar described the overall program (roughly 10,500 homes across the site, 3.25 acres of parkland in early phases, an expected regional retail component and a range of affordable housing from 0–160% AMI). The sponsor said phase‑1 construction is underway and that the larger program aims for roughly 32% of units affordable across the full project and strong local‑hire commitments (planning target 50% local hire; sponsor reported 42% to date).
Planned D for D refinements include deleting references to the former stadium project, slight adjustments to block and street dimensions after interdepartmental review, nuanced signage rules, modest increases in allowable building height along some Ingersoll and Harney corridors (from 65 to 80 feet where greater retail ceiling heights are desired), and relocation of some towers to address structural and timing issues for retail parking design. Lennar said the team will present the formal amendments to the commission on Dec. 3.
Commissioners asked for additional massing and public‑realm renderings and emphasized retaining smaller‑street character where possible. Staff said they will return with additional visuals and impact details ahead of the next hearing.
