Tripathi and the project team described a mosaic mural made from photographic imagery of San Francisco landmarks, produced using a proprietary algorithmic mosaic process and backlit with LED arrays. The artist said the installation will allow adjustable color temperature (Kelvin) to render dusk and evening skies, and that the mosaic will be fabricated in partnership with a local mosaic fabricator. Commissioners complimented the concept, noting that representational city imagery is a refreshing contrast to more abstract public art.
