Board conditions Noe Street vertical‑addition permit on revised drawings

The San Francisco Board of Appeals on Aug. 7 granted an appeal concerning a permit for a vertical addition at 208 Noe Street but conditioned the permit on adoption of revised plans presented at the hearing dated Aug. 7, 2019. Vice President Anne Lazarus moved to grant the appeal and require the permit be revised to match the drawings submitted at the hearing; the motion carried 4–0.
Planning Department representative Scott Sanchez told the board that revised plans developed over the prior week appeared to resolve outstanding issues and that the only remaining question involved whether a firewall would be required for reconstructed stairs and landings. DBI senior inspector Joe Duffy said if the stairs and landings were reconstructed "in kind" — returning them to their previous footprint and dimensions — a firewall would not be required; he recommended conditioning the permit on the revised plans and inspections.
Architect David Marlott presented the revised drawings and explained that excess deck areas were reduced so the project complies with planning and building code minimums. After discussion the board voted to grant the appeal and uphold the permit on the condition that the permit be revised to the plans submitted at the hearing (dated 08/07/2019).
