On Feb. 27 the San Francisco Board of Appeals granted Appeal 18-155, overturning the zoning administrator’s denial of an exposure variance to add a ground-floor dwelling unit at 52–56 Landers Street (case no. 2016007339).
President Frank Fung moved to grant the appeal and adopt the draft findings submitted by the appellant in consultation with the zoning administrator, concluding the facts supported granting a variance under Planning Code section 305C. Commissioners Lazarus, Honda, Tanner and Vice President Rick Swig voted in favor; the motion carried.
The board had continued the matter from Jan. 23 to allow preparation of draft findings that would support the variance. Board members noted the de novo nature of the hearing and confirmed the record supported the specific findings required under the Planning Code.
