Neighbor William Clark objected to a proposed bathroom window that, he said, would sit roughly seven feet from his kitchen table after the project eliminated an historic light well. The homeowners and new design team said earlier plans and an over‑excavation had created permit complications; they told the board they have replaced the original architect and contractor, corrected the permit drawings, and are first‑time homeowners seeking to complete renovations. The homeowners offered to reduce the window size and to use obscured glass.
DBI staff confirmed the outstanding issue concerned the bathroom window size, and said the revised permit had been reviewed over the counter by Planning after corrections. Commissioners asked whether reducing size and obscuring the glass would mitigate impacts. The board adopted a motion to grant the appeal and issue the permit provided the bathroom window is revised on the plans to 24 inches by 44 inches and fitted with obscured glass. The motion passed unanimously.
The permit will proceed on that condition; DBI will verify that the revised window specifications are included in the final permit documents.
