AT&T and its consultant explained the proposal involves panel antennas and that they will decommission an existing omni antenna as part of the upgrade.
Several residents of the top-floor units directly beneath the proposed installation spoke in opposition, citing concern about close proximity and potential health effects; one speaker said she was expecting a child and asked the commission to reject the proposal for that reason. Chris Lundstrom, co-owner of the property, said the antennas are directional and oriented away from the building and that the sponsor had worked with tenants on mitigation and testing.
A consultant explained vertical and horizontal antenna radiation patterns and said proposed equipment complies with federal exposure guidelines. Commissioners moved to approve the CUP with conditions; the motion passed unanimously.
The decision includes the condition that the sponsor provide required post-installation RF measurements and documentation. Staff will ensure those conditions are met prior to full activation of the site.
