Board of Appeals continues elevator permit appeal to July 26

The San Francisco Board of Appeals on May 24, 2017 agreed to continue appeal 17-047, a dispute over an electrical permit to disconnect power to a shared elevator at 99 Saint Germain Avenue, to July 26, 2017.
Ryan Patterson, attorney for appellants Ed and Vicky Yee, asked the board to continue the matter to the night of the related variance hearing, scheduled July 19, arguing the variance could render the current appeal moot: "There's no need to spend attorney's fees and city resources doing this tonight if the real issue is coming before you in a few weeks," Patterson said.
Counsel for the permit holders opposed postponement, saying the elevator shaft and adjoining machinery are deteriorating and repairs should not be delayed. Zoning Administrator Scott Sanchez told the board that a July hearing on the variance would be appropriate and that the Planning Department would be supportive of the revised proposal at that time.
After brief discussion, the board moved to continue the appeal to July 26, to give time for the related proceedings to occur and for parties to coordinate. Commissioners voted to carry the motion; the clerk recorded the matter as continued to the July 26 calendar.
