Michael Smith of the Planning Department told commissioners the project had received roughly 50 letters of support and 21 letters of opposition and recommended approval. “The project promotes adaptive reuse of a difficult building type,” Smith said in his presentation.
Project sponsor Molly Huffman, head of Children’s Day School, told the commission the school would expand its middle‑school program and that “40% of our students are on sliding scale tuition,” a financial commitment she said totals about $1.9 million annually for the…
