Planning Commission approves a slate of routine items, elects officers and sets continuances

San Francisco’s Planning Commission on Feb. 23 approved a series of routine and substantive items, elected new officers and set dates for continuances.
The commission voted unanimously to continue multiple items related to 8 Washington Street and to place them on the consent calendar. Commissioners approved items 6 (211 Sutter St.) and 7 (601 Tompkins Ave.) on consent by roll call. Rodney Fong was elected commission president and Cindy Wu vice president after nominations; the slate carried in a roll-call vote with one dissenting vote recorded during the nomination. The commission also approved a Planning Code amendment to allow automobile sales and rentals as conditional uses in neighborhood commercial shopping center districts and recommended it to the Board of Supervisors’ Land Use Committee.
A continuance was scheduled for the Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market matter (item 15) to March 15 following a request from Supervisor Campos and agreement from the project sponsor and neighborhood groups. The commission took no final action on informational items that did not require approval.
