San Francisco — The Board of Appeals on April 20 denied an appeal over a revised permit that updated measurements for a rear deck at 3284 Jackson Street, concluding Planning and DBI had properly reviewed the revision.
Appellant Joe Parelli raised inconsistencies among earlier and later city documents about the deck depth and setback measurements and asked the Board to restore the deck to smaller original dimensions. "I was confused by the inconsistencies between the permittees' submission and city documents," Parelli told the Board.
The permit holder’s attorney said the owner submitted a revision following a neighborhood compromise, and DBI issued a final inspection. Planning staff reviewed the plans on appeal and concluded the updated dimensions maintain the required 25 percent rear yard setback; DBI said it had performed inspections and approved the revision.
On that basis Vice President Frank Fung moved to deny the appeal and uphold the permit. The Board voted 5–0 to deny the appeal and allow the revised permit standing.
