The San Francisco Planning Commission on Oct. 20 approved AT&T’s conditional‑use request to mount 12 panel antennas on its switching station at 389 Ninth Avenue.
Starve Alveva of planning staff said the site is a publicly used structure (location preference 1) and recommended approval with conditions. Teddy Verhaes of AT&T External Affairs said the Ninth Avenue site is an important coverage and capacity location and noted it is an AT&T central office "traditionally used for telecommunications equipment." AT&T said consultants prepared radio‑frequency reports that were included in the project packet.
Commissioner Bridal moved to approve the request and the motion was seconded. Roll‑call votes were recorded as “Aye” from Commissioners Antonini, Boyle, Moore, Segaya, and Miguel; Commissioner Christina Olague said she arrived at the end of the presentation and would be marked absent for that vote. The chair announced the item passed among those voting.
As with the previous wireless item, the approval is subject to the conditions in the staff recommendation and relies on RF reports prepared by the applicant’s consultants. No members of the public provided testimony on the item at the hearing.
