At the start of its regular calendar the Planning Commission approved two revocations of inactive office allocations. Staff told the commission that both 48 Tehama (case 2011.0506B) and 524 Howard (case 2011.0503B) had exceeded the 18‑month construction commencement window established by the planning code and that no building permits or substantive progress had been undertaken by the sponsors.
For 48 Tehama staff said the office allocation expired and there had been efforts to re‑entitle the site as residential that abandoned the office proposal; commissioners voted to revoke the allocation unanimously.
For 524 Howard staff outlined the project—s history (original 1989 approval, extension in 1999, site use as interim parking since 2005) and said the sponsor had not pursued building permits nor provided written responses; the commission again voted unanimously to revoke the allocation and directed staff to notify the sponsor and update the allocations register.
The decisions restore the Prop M office pool and allow the planning department to manage allocations for projects that are actively pursued. Both revocations were taken as motions to support staff recommendations and passed by roll call.
