The operator’s representative told commissioners the lot helps local restaurants and entertainment venues by favoring short‑term parking over long‑term commuter spots; he also said the extension would not block future redevelopment because any new office project would still require permits and financing. Staff recommended approval to resolve the enforcement case and to retain a small interim use for the property while long‑term entitlements are addressed.
The commission voted to approve the two‑year extension with standard conditions. Commissioners and staff noted the parking and the outstanding office allocation are separate matters: staff said the commission may schedule a future hearing to consider revocation of the long‑dormant office allocation if desired.
