Anne Lazarus was reappointed president of the San Francisco Board of Appeals on Jan. 28, and Commissioner Daryl Honda was elected vice president, the panel announced at the start of its meeting.
The nominations came from Commissioner Frank Fung and were confirmed by roll call votes, with the board recording 4-0 tallies in favor of both Lazarus and Honda. Board staff also reminded the public of speaking rules and conducted the swearing-in process before the board moved to its calendar.
The procedural housekeeping preceded a full docket of appeals on building and planning permits, tree removals and zoning variances. With one seat vacant, the board noted it can overrule a departmental action by the votes of three members under San Francisco Charter Section 401.6(d), a point staff read into the record early in the meeting.
The board adopted minutes from the Jan. 21 meeting by the same unanimous vote and then turned to contested appeals scheduled for the evening.
