Planning Department staff presented a balanced, status-quo budget for fiscal year 2011/12 and the commission voted unanimously to approve it for submission to the mayor's office.
Tom DiSanto, chief administrative officer, told commissioners the proposed budget maintains current staffing and operational levels, replaces some one-time funds from the prior year with new state grants and fee increases (via allowable CPI adjustments), and assumes modest permit-volume growth. The department said it has not yet identified funding within this budget for environmental and design-work associated with the America's Cup or for the health-care master plan; staff will continue to work with the mayor's office to identify funding sources for those items.
The commission moved to approve the balanced budget and the motion passed unanimously.
Ending: Staff will report back on funding options for America's Cup and the health-care master plan as they are identified.
