Planning Commission backs Mission District streetscape plan and recommends general-plan amendment

A final mitigated negative declaration and mitigation-monitoring program were included in the packet.
Commissioners discussed specific design details, including bulb-outs and pedestrian refuges on Dolores and Mission Streets, and directed staff to coordinate final designs with the Historic Preservation Commission for historic elements. The commission concluded the plan supports ongoing area plans, transit coordination and future capital projects.
The commission—s action advances the plan to the Board of Supervisors for adoption of the general-plan amendment and positions the department to pursue implementation funding and interagency coordination.
