The Planning Commission continued the discretionary review for 640–642 Shotwell Street to the commission meeting on October 7 to allow staff to prepare a fuller report and provide existing plans to commissioners.
Commissioner Sugaya said the packet did not contain sufficient staff analysis to support a vote and asked for the existing plans and a clearer explanation of why staff had characterized the item as an abbreviated review under CEQA. Commissioners discussed possible continuation dates and the record shows staff agreed to prepare a full report for the October 7 hearing.
On the motion to continue, the roll call recorded ayes from multiple commissioners and the chair announced the continuance to October 7. Staff was asked specifically to include the existing plans in the packet and to expand on CEQA and design‑guideline reasoning ahead of the continued hearing.
