Planning Commission certifies final EIR for proposed San Francisco Enterprise Zone

The San Francisco Planning Commission on July 15 certified the final environmental impact report (EIR) for the proposed San Francisco Enterprise Zone, advancing the project toward final action by the Board of Supervisors.
Brett Bollinger of the planning department’s environmental analysis division summarized the EIR process, noting the draft EIR’s publication, the January public hearing and the close of public comment in February. He said staff’s evaluation concluded the enterprise zone’s implementation would not cause significant unavoidable environmental impacts and that the final records complied with CEQA and the city’s administrative code. "We would request that the commission adopt the motion before you that certifies that the contents of the report are adequate and accurate," Bollinger said.
Commissioner Logge moved to certify the final EIR; the motion passed with recorded ayes from the commissioners present. Commissioners thanked staff for clarifying who stands to benefit from the enterprise zone and for publishing a summary of comments and responses.
Final legislative actions on related ordinances were scheduled for the Board of Supervisors on July 27, 2010.
