Saint Mary—s Medical Center presented an updated Institutional Master Plan (IMP) to the Planning Commission on Feb. 25, describing the hospital—s community role, patient volumes and near-term facility plans.
Anna Chung, the hospital president, said St. Mary's has provided continuous community care for more than a century and that the facility—s near-term work focuses on maintenance and equipment upgrades rather than major new construction. "We're proud to be an excellent solid community hospital and have always cared for the sick and the needy regardless of their ability to pay," Chung said, noting the hospital's charity care and community-health programs.
Dr. Richard Podlin, chief of staff, described clinical priorities including investments in cardiac electrophysiology and a proposed shared vascular laboratory, and emphasized the hospital's training programs and collaborative approach to specialty care.
Community members, health advocates and board members spoke in support of the IMP; attendees and several commissioners complimented the clarity of the submittal and staff outreach. Because the IMP is informational, no discretionary action was required; commissioners closed the hearing after accepting the report and encouraged continued community engagement as individual projects move forward.
