Staff said the India Basin report is the first complete draft and was prepared in collaboration with the redevelopment agency and the planning department. A community workshop was set for the Bayview Opera House that evening to release the draft and begin public comment; a formal 60‑day comment period and subsequent fall hearing were announced.
On budget matters, staff reported the department’s submitted budget totaled $20,800,000, a reduction of roughly 12 percent from the prior year. The board budget committee approved the department’s budget but placed a $500,000 item for additional long‑range planning 'on reserve'; staff said it will continue to work with the board budget committee on specific uses for those funds.
Staff also reported that funding for a permit‑tracking system — previously presented to commissioners and DBI — was approved and that the department is in early negotiations with its preferred vendor. Staff said the system will be important for long‑term operations and expressed satisfaction with committee support.
Commissioners acknowledged the updates and the need to return to the Commission once public comments on India Basin had been assembled.
