The San Francisco Planning Commission on July 9 voted to continue the appeal of the preliminary mitigated negative declaration for 942 Mission Street and its companion items to the commission’s September 10 hearing and set a separate related case to indefinite continuance. The commission’s action followed an extended discussion about broadcast-room unavailability during the August 28–September 6 period and competing public‑hearing schedules around Labor Day.
Commissioners and members of the public debated whether to keep the September 3 date, move the item earlier in August, or cancel the meeting. Project representatives asked the commission to retain a September date so the matter could be resolved promptly; neighborhood speakers and at least one commissioner argued hearings likely would be large and needed a room with broadcast capability. Staff said city audiovisual closures and existing bookings limited options for relocation.
After a sequence of motions, the commission declined several proposed alternatives and instead approved a motion to continue items 1, 2a and 2b (the Mission Street appeals) to September 10 and to continue item 3 (case 2008.1014C for 652 Stanion Street) indefinitely. The vote to set the Sept. 10 date carried on a majority vote. Commissioners also discussed contingency plans if the city cannot provide a broadcast‑capable room for the new date.
