Planning Commission backs amended Treasure Island/Yerba Buena preliminary plan and project boundary

Planning staff and the Office of Economic and Workforce Development presented amendments to the Treasure Island/Yerba Buena Island redevelopment preliminary plan and project-area boundary, saying the revisions align the plan with current conveyance agreements and the underlying development term sheet. Michael Tymoff of the Office of Economic and Workforce Development told commissioners the plan anticipates a transit-oriented, high-density, mixed-use neighborhood that would deliver parks, open space and a 30% affordable-housing commitment in the endorsed term sheet. The commission voted to select the amended project area, formulate the amended preliminary plan, find it meets the criteria in the Health and Safety Code, and forward the plan to the Treasure Island Development Authority for acceptance. Commissioner Borden moved the approval; the motion passed by roll call. Staff stressed that the approval at this stage forwards the amended preliminary plan; final policy and entitlement actions, including the EIR certification and disposition and development agreement, will be handled in later hearings.
