Contractor Daniel Walsh told the board the permit corrects a measurement mistake and reduces the rear landings by 18 inches to the original approved footprint. Planning staff Scott Sanchez said the permit brings the structure into conformance with the approved building footprint and does not trigger neighborhood notification or a variance because the corrective work is limited to meet building-code-required dimensions.
A neighbor, Greg Corrado, said the enlarged stairwell is useful as built and opposed reducing it; the board discussed alternatives but moved to uphold the permit. The roll call vote was 5-0 to deny the appeal and uphold the permit.
