Commissioners flag LEED ND placements, inclusionary housing concerns and request semiannual housing data

At a special meeting on Aug. 30, 2007, Commissioner Catherine Moore informed her colleagues that San Francisco had three projects placed on the LEED Neighborhood Development pilot registry, naming 55 Laguna, Hunter's View and Schlager Lock as entries submitted by the Planning Department.
Moore said the placements were "good news" and urged the department to incorporate green planning principles. She also noted receipt of letters from groups including the Sierra Club and the Education Coalition for Responsible Development concerning the City College Chinatown plan and asked for further consideration of those concerns when the commission reviews the project.
Separately, commissioners discussed recent Census reporting of rising average and median incomes, and one commissioner warned that higher incomes reduce the pool of households eligible under the city's inclusionary housing ordinance. To better track market conditions influencing planning decisions, commissioners asked staff to prepare a short memo with data on large building sales, home sale volumes and average home prices every six months; staff agreed to provide that memo.
