Yee and his daughter explained that medical treatment in 2005–2006 caused him to fall short of the driving‑hours requirement and asked the board to treat 2006 as a qualifying year. "I have been on the medallion waiting list for 15 years," Yee told the board. Supporters argued the commission has previously accommodated applicants with medical issues and urged similar relief.
After discussion, Commissioner Mandelmann moved to overrule the commission’s removal and restore Yee to the top of the waiting list; the motion carried unanimously and the board said formal findings would be adopted at a later date.
