Planning Commission agrees to continue multiple items including Marina renovation to Jan. 11, 2007

The San Francisco Planning Commission on Nov. 2 voted to continue several agenda items — including the Marina renovation project (item 15) — to the commission’s first hearing of 2007 on Jan. 11.
Commissioner Christina Olague asked for the longer delay, saying she had not had time to review the complex Marina renovation materials and wanted to be confident she could make an informed decision. Commissioner William Lee and others said the project sponsor agreed to the delay and that additional neighborhood meetings and time to resolve outstanding concerns would be productive. Several members of the public and project representatives also urged patience and coordination with Recreation and Park staff.
Commissioner Michael Antonini moved to continue the items as listed; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously. Commissioner Hasashi Seguaya noted he expected to have a conflict on the substantive Marina hearing but voted for the continuance so the calendaring could proceed. The clerk read the items proposed for continuance on the agenda prior to the vote.
The continuance postpones formal consideration of the Marina renovation to 2007-01-11, giving staff, the sponsor and neighborhood groups additional time to confer. The commission did not take any final action on the Marina’s merits at the Nov. 2 meeting.
