Board of Appeals continues several appeals and sets return dates for further review

The San Francisco Board of Appeals on Feb. 21 continued multiple items to allow additional legal or technical review. Commissioners voted to continue Appeal 6-2 (Trust of Reagan Carroll) to March 7 to give parties time to consider whether pending superior-court litigation and a possible stipulation from the city would resolve jurisdictional and CEQA (California Environmental Quality Act) questions. City attorney Ms. Barnes told the board the item may be appropriate for "call of the chair" while lawsuits proceed; the appellant's counsel, Mr. Lippy, said his client filed to preserve administrative remedies and asked for a decision tonight.
The board also continued a parking variance appeal for 180 Corwin Street to April 18 so the appellant can commission an engineering study and DBI staff can conduct a site assessment. Appellant counsel Jared Agerman said an engineering study and a DBI site visit would be scheduled and that the parties were willing to hire outside expertise; DBI staff recommended a paper analysis before a field visit.
Separately, the board continued Appeal O6-187 (854 Folsom Street, Greg Griffin) to March 7 after staff reports the appellant had not been reached; commissioners said they would make additional outreach efforts before the next meeting.
