Committee advances acceptance of $1.4 million DHS regional preparedness grant to full Board

The Budget and Finance Committee voted to forward to the full Board an ordinance authorizing the Department of Emergency Management to accept and expand a $1,400,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for the Regional Catastrophe Preparedness Grants Program and to add two grant‑funded part‑time positions to the annual salary ordinance.
Mary Landers and Christine Livard of the Department of Emergency Management described the project as "regional support for a logistics and supply chain management project that will develop commodity points of distribution plans throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, the 12 counties," and said the two part‑time positions would manage the project and contractor work. After one caller in public comment appeared to disconnect, the committee moved the item to the Board with a positive recommendation and recorded three ayes on the committee vote.
The ordinance was advanced with the committee's positive recommendation and will be considered by the full Board as scheduled.
