Controller unveils new city budget website required by transparency law

The committee heard a brief demonstration of a new citywide budget website the Controller's Office launched March 1 to implement recently adopted budget-transparency legislation.
"It's on the top level of the sfgov website," Rosenfield said, describing a simple landing page with plain-language explanations of the budget process, a calendar, and links to department budgets and key documents including the mayor's budget instructions and the proposed budget. He said all department budget submissions that had come into the Controller's and Mayor's offices are available on the site.
Rosenfield credited the digital services team and the city administrator's office for assistance in building the site and said the goal was to make the budget more accessible to residents. Committee members responded positively to the demonstration and the chair moved to file the six-month report after the presentation.
