Committee advances $13 million amendment to airport waste contract with South San Francisco Scavenger

The Budget & Finance Committee on Nov. 20 voted to forward a resolution authorizing amendment #1 to the airport's contract with South San Francisco Scavenger Company Inc. to increase the contract by approximately $13,000,000 and extend the term three years to 02/28/2028, resulting in a new not-to-exceed total of about $22,408,062.
Kathy Weidner of San Francisco International Airport said the vendor will continue providing collection, hauling and processing services, and that the amendment aligns services with the airport's zero-waste goal. "The airport has completed a 3 year performance evaluation summary of the contract and found that Scavenger has met or exceeded all contractual obligations," she said. Nick Menard of the Budget and Legislative Analyst's office summarized the budget details, noted the vendor was the sole responsive bidder in the 2021 RFP, and recommended approval.
With no public comment, the committee forwarded the resolution to the full Board with a positive recommendation (3-0).
