City to boost electrical-supply contract caps while new bids are readied

The Budget and Finance Committee on Jan. 31 considered two resolutions from the Office of Contract Administration to increase the not-to-exceed (NTE) values of citywide electrical-supplies contracts.
OCA procurement manager Anise Acevedo said the requested increases would add $600,000 to the Alameda Electrical Distributors contract (new NTE not to exceed $2.5 million) and roughly $2,000,000 to the Buckle Smith Electric Company contract (new NTE not to exceed $19.5 million). Acevedo said both contracts are as-needed supply contracts and the increases would cover purchases through current end dates while OCA completes a new solicitation that closed in February.
The Budget and Legislative Analyst's review found the requested increases reasonable based on department spending and recommended approval. The committee voted to forward both resolutions to the full Board of Supervisors with a positive recommendation.
Next steps: OCA will complete the solicitation and the board will consider the contract modifications at the full meeting.
