The Budget and Finance Committee voted to amend and forward a resolution authorizing expenditures from the SOMA Community Stabilization Fund to support the Filipino Cultural Heritage District. Claudine Del Rosario of the Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development told the committee that although the resolution requested $800,000, procurement yielded proposals totaling $600,000 and MOHCD requested the committee amend the resolution to $600,000 and put the remaining $200,000 back into a future RFP.
Nick Menard of the Budget and Legislative Analyst’s office said the funding source dates to a 2015 development agreement dedicated to the Filipino Cultural Heritage District and that SOMA Pilipinas responded to the RFP. Chair Chan asked whether the unallocated $200,000 would be reproposed; Del Rosario said MOHCD expects to rerun the RFP later in the fiscal year.
After no public comment the committee voted 3–0 to amend the resolution to $600,000 and forward it to the full Board with a positive recommendation.
