Committee forwards retroactive OEWD WIOA grant expansion serving dislocated workers

The Office of Economic and Workforce Development asked the committee to retroactively accept and expend a $775,000 WIOA grant award that includes an additional $100,000 reallocated in December 2020. David Walker (OEWD) said the extra funding will allow OEWD to serve about 125 additional participants with supportive services capped at $800 per person, and that funds must be spent by June 30, 2021.
"This grant is retroactive...due to our exceptional performance and the community partners' hard work in distributing this money," Walker said. He said the original $675,000 was accepted earlier and the amendment expands that acceptance to include the additional $100,000.
There was no BLA report and no public comment. The committee voted to forward the item to the full Board with a positive recommendation (three ayes). The Board will receive documentation explaining the reason for retroactivity when the item is transmitted.
