The Committee voted to forward to the full Board a resolution to modify and extend the city’s contract with the Low Income Investment Fund (LIIF) to continue administering city child‑care facility grants and technical assistance through June 30, 2022. Graham Dobson of the Office of Early Care and Education (OECE) said the modification adds an additional revenue source (about $6,000,000 from the Educational Revenue Augmentation Fund) and requested an additional funding amount to cover administration and contingency for predevelopment, capital, startup and renovation grants.
The Budget Analyst recommended a technical reduction in the ordinance’s stated not‑to‑exceed amount (from $63,000,000 to $61,000,000) to account for prior‑year contingencies and recommended approval of an increased amount drawn mainly from development fees and other non‑general‑fund sources; the BLA noted approximately $8,000,000 of increased general‑fund sources is a policy matter for the Board. The committee voted to accept the BLA’s suggested amendments and then voted to forward the item as amended to the full Board (three ayes).
