Committee OKs increase to airport security contract to add cameras and infrastructure

The committee forwarded a resolution to the full Board approving modification No. 11 to a project-management contract with Faith Group LLC for the Airport Security Infrastructure Program (ASAP), increasing the not-to-exceed amount to support additional cameras, a consolidated access point and network infrastructure.
Kathy Weidner of the San Francisco International Airport described the change as an adjustment to the program’s scope to add cameras and revise the design–build contractor; she said the modification would extend project-management services through Dec. 31, 2021. Weidner described the program as consolidating security-camera infrastructure into a single access point with additional cameras in terminals and on the airfield.
The Budget Analyst’s report referenced a contract increase in the range of $3.28 million to $3.30 million (report text contains slightly different figures) and said the Airport Commission had approved a two-year extension; BLA recommended approval as a reasonable expenditure within the Airport Capital Improvement Program, which the presenter said has a total budget of $197,000,000.
Committee members asked whether the cameras were driven by Federal Aviation Administration requirements; Weidner said perimeter components may relate to FAA requirements but the program is an airport-wide security upgrade.
The Committee moved the resolution to the full Board with a positive recommendation; the motion was taken without objection.
