The committee voted to forward to the Board of Supervisors a resolution approving a one‑year extension of master leases between the Treasure Island Development Authority (TIDA) and the U.S. Navy to extend interim leases through Nov. 30, 2020. Bob Beck said the Navy’s BRAC procedures limit interim leases to 12 months and that the extension would leave other terms unchanged.
Chair Sandra Lee Feuer and Supervisor Rafael Mandelmann pressed staff about environmental cleanup status. Beck said properties covered under this particular lease have no active remediation work, though the Navy has not completed closeout or issued final findings of suitability to transfer for some parcels; other master leases (not before the committee) do include active remediation and will continue for several years. Supervisors asked for a concise, two‑page ‘cliff‑note’ memorandum and a map showing lease parcels and cleanup status; Beck agreed to provide it promptly. The committee moved the item to the board with a positive recommendation.
