Committee forwards grants and retroactive approvals ranging from pest-prevention research to workforce and civic-bridge support

The department said the work reaches about 3,495 units at 28 sites and affects over 10,000 residents.
The Recreation and Park Department requested retroactive Board approval for in-kind grants from the San Francisco Parks Alliance (approximately $100,000 in value) to support community events, staff development and programming for FY 2017-18; department staff described a long-standing partnership and the variety of programs supported.
The Department of Technology sought retroactive authorization to accept pro-bono consulting services valued at $750,000 from local providers for civic-bridge projects in FY 2017-18 and FY 2018-19; the Civic Bridge cohort matches private-sector volunteers with city projects to provide policy and operational help.
The Office of Economic and Workforce Development asked to accept a $387,105 grant from the Bay Peninsula Regional Planning Unit fiscal agent (North Valley Consortium) to expand an in-custody job center and coordinate post-release job training and workforce-development programs through March 2022; OEWD staff said the grant was written in partnership with the Sheriff's Department, Adult Probation, CDCR and OEWD and would establish a continuum of care for reentry services.
Committee members asked no follow-up questions of consequence, no members of the public commented, and the committee moved each item to the Board with a positive recommendation.
