The commission also pressed for pedestrian and night safety improvements in high‑risk neighborhoods, preregistration and civic engagement for minors and a $60,000 request for California ID fee waivers to support youth preregistration.
Commissioners stressed the connection between youth priorities and department presentations earlier in the hearing — pedestrian safety, workforce and youth employment, anti‑displacement and homelessness exits — and urged supervisors to consider the youth perspective as budgets are developed. Supervisors thanked the commission for its engagement and said youth recommendations will be taken into account in budget considerations.
The committee did not take immediate action; supervisors encouraged continued youth participation as the mayor’s budget process advances.
