Supervisors move SHARP sexual‑assault office from Public Health to Human Rights Commission

Supervisors raised the concern that the office must be independent and coordinate across police, hospitals and other departments; Carolina Morales, legislative aide to Supervisor Ronan (SHARP sponsor), confirmed HRC—s willingness to host the office if it proves effective.
The committee also resolved a $20,000 budget adjustment reflecting the controller—s recommended classification substitution. The transfer was approved without further objection and will keep two staffing slots in the budget that had been allocated to DPH, now under HRC authority.
Next steps: departments will work through classification and HR substitution details; the committee asked staff to ensure the HRC has the operational capacity to accept the function and that any necessary legislative changes return to committee.
