Committee forwards amendment to SEIU Local 1021 nurses MOU to full board
Summary
The Government Audit and Oversight Committee voted to send an ordinance adopting a first amendment to the 2024'1027 memorandum of understanding with SEIU Local 1021 (staff and per-diem nurses) to the full Board with a positive recommendation; DHR said the change affects one agreed staffing position and does not add new financial encumbrance.

An ordinance to adopt a first amendment to the 2024'1027 memorandum of understanding between the City and County of San Francisco and Service Employees International Union Local 1021 was forwarded to the full Board of Supervisors on July 18, 2024, after a brief presentation and committee vote.
Jonathan Wright, assistant employee relations director in the Department of Human Resources, told the Government Audit and Oversight Committee the amendment is a late-language change to the recently adopted MOU with SEIU Local 1021 for registered nurses and public health nurses. "It does not create an additional financial encumbrance," Wright said, and affects one agreed-upon staffing position in a side letter to the MOU.
Chair Supervisor Dean Preston moved to send the ordinance to the full Board with a positive recommendation. The committee recorded two "aye" votes (Supervisor Connie Chan and Chair Preston) with Vice Chair Stephanie excused; the motion passed.
The clerk noted the item will be presented as a committee report at the Board of Supervisors meeting on July 23, 2024. No public commenters spoke on this item during the committee hearing.
The item now proceeds to the full Board for consideration.
