GAO Committee continues taxi dispatch resolution, convenes closed session and votes to continue UN Plaza item
Summary
On Oct. 19, 2023 the committee voted to continue Item 1 (UN Plaza activation) to the call of the chair, continued Item 2 (taxi dispatch pilot resolution) to Nov. 16 for additional SFMTA data, convened a closed session on settlement items and voted not to disclose deliberations.
At the conclusion of public testimony on Oct. 19, the Government Audit and Oversight Committee approved several procedural motions.
Chair Dean Preston moved to continue Item 1, the UN Plaza activation and farmers market relocation, to the call of the chair for further departmental commitments and analysis; Supervisors Connie Chan, Rafael Mandelman and Dean Preston voted aye and the motion passed.
Item 2, a resolution urging the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency to remove third‑party dispatch from a taxi upfront fare pilot, was continued to Nov. 16 at the request of Supervisor Connie Chan to allow SFMTA to present third‑quarter pilot data. The continuance passed on a recorded vote.
The committee then convened in closed session to consider three ordinances and three resolutions authorizing settlements (items 3 through 8). After returning to open session the clerk reported the closed session items were recommended with a positive recommendation and the committee voted to not disclose the closed session deliberations.
