The Budget and Finance Committee forwarded a lease for a Department of Public Health community wellness space at Hunters View Phase 2B (Block 10) and agreed to continue consideration of a separate Department of Public Health lease renewal at 1390 Market Street.
Rhea Bailey of the Department of Public Health described the Hunters View space as a ‘‘community wellness’’ facility tied to the HOPE SF redevelopment that will host primary care nursing services, behavioral health supports and culturally responsive healing programs such as movement classes and healing circles. Bailey said the center will be part of a four‑pronged HOPE SF strategy to improve living conditions and support residents’ mental, emotional and physical health.
Claudia Gorham, assistant director of the Department of Real Estate, read technical corrections to the Hunters View lease language, including edits that clarify CEQA citations and Planning Commission certification dates. Committee members accepted the technical amendment and Supervisor Catherine Stephanie moved to forward the Hunters View lease to the full Board with a positive recommendation; the motion was taken without objection.
Earlier on the agenda, the Department of Real Estate requested a continuance on a proposed three‑year renewal for DPH space at 1390 Market Street (initial annual cost stated as approximately $1,800,000 with 3% annual increases) so the item could be heard with other Civic Center real-estate matters. Chair Malia Cohen moved to continue that item to February 15, and the committee agreed without objection.
The committee recorded no public opposition to the Hunters View lease during the committee hearing; public comment was invited and none was received for Item 3.
