Committee approves SFMTA amendment to continue Transbay Transit Center services through mid‑2018

Kanu Balan, SFMTA project manager for the Transbay Transit Center, said the amendment (contract CS159) continues MTA project management, construction inspection, and traffic engineering services for the Transit Center. He said the amendment does not increase the overall contract cost but reallocates funds between tasks to cover current needs, adds inspection work related to installation of new ticket vending machines, and extends the contract end date to June 30, 2018 to bridge the transition from construction to operation.
Supervisor Tang moved the item forward and the committee agreed without objection. The amendment keeps the existing budget allocation intact while authorizing task reallocation and a four‑to‑six month schedule extension.
Next steps: the amendment will be considered by the full Board; SFMTA will continue project management and inspection work through June 30, 2018 under the terms described to the committee.
