Committee advances SFPUC contract with Mythix for Oracle licenses and support

The Budget and Finance Committee advanced a resolution authorizing the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission to enter a five‑year, as‑needed contract with Mythix Inc. for Oracle software licenses and support to sustain customer care and capital program systems. Ken Salmon, IT director for the SFPUC, described the department’s reliance on Oracle Utility Suite, Primavera, database, and WebLogic products for billing, capital program management and the Sewer System Improvement Program, a long‑term capital effort.

Salmon said the PUC’s existing software contracts were expiring and could not be amended to buy required new products, prompting this procurement vehicle. He described the contract as a “buying vehicle” at a lower price (roughly 5 percent less than purchasing directly from Oracle) and said it would allow other City departments to use the contract headroom. The department presented a not‑to‑exceed figure in the low‑to‑mid $11 million range (variously stated in the record); Salmon gave a department ceiling of $11,832,969 and the Budget Analyst, Severn Campbell, summarized the contract as $11,400,000 over approximately five years and confirmed first‑year funding of $1,700,000 is already in the SFPUC IT budget.
