Dr. Cora Hoover, director of Communicable Disease Control and Prevention in the San Francisco Department of Public Health, told the committee that SFTPH was awarded a $225,366 Local Health Department Zika Response Resources subaward (March 2017), administered by Public Health Foundation Enterprises on behalf of the California Department of Public Health with CDC funding.
Dr. Hoover said the grant will enhance collection of Zika registry data for pregnant women with Zika infection, track testing results and pregnancy outcomes, provide case management referrals for potentially affected families, and carry out outreach to obstetrics and pediatric providers along with updates to the program website to improve public accessibility of Zika information. The committee had no questions, and Supervisor Katie Tang moved to send the item to the full Board with a positive recommendation; with no objection the motion passed.
