The Budget & Finance Committee voted to forward a resolution approving a one‑year extension of the San Francisco International Airport’s professional services agreement with New South Parking and to add roughly $21 million to the contract-not-to-exceed amount so operations are not interrupted while the airport restarts its request‑for‑proposals process.
Kathy Weidner of the airport told the committee that during last year’s RFP competition for parking operations staff found irregularities in scoring and a possible conflict of interest involving a panelist; the airport commission rejected all proposals in April and directed a new RFP. Weidner said the winning proposer had also lost a key member of its management staff. She recommended extending the existing contract to maintain operations while the new procurement proceeds.
The Budget Legislative Analyst, Harvey Rose, reviewed revenue and expenditure tables and recommended amending the resolution to reduce the proposed increase by $564,774 to reflect contract savings realized over the original contract term; airport staff agreed with that recommendation. Supervisor Yi moved to accept the recommendation and forward the item to the full Board with a positive recommendation; the committee took the motion without objection.
