Board committee forwards several Fire Department donation resolutions
Summary
The Budget & Finance Committee recommended forwarding multiple resolutions authorizing the Fire Department to accept or donate vehicles and grants — including donations to Local 798, a $12,000 recruitment-video gift, a ~$55,000 estate gift, and $25,000 from AAA for NERT supplies — all moved with positive recommendations and no public opposition.

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors Budget & Finance Committee on Jan. 11 recommended forwarding four Fire Department donation and acceptance resolutions to the full Board.
Mark Corso of the Fire Department described each item: a retired pickup truck to be donated to San Francisco Firefighters Local 798 for the union’s toy program, a retroactive acceptance and expansion of a $12,000 donation from Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company for a recruitment video used in recruitment sessions, approximately $55,000 from the estate of Nguyen Wu intended for fire-education and outreach materials, and a $25,000 donation from AAA of Northern California, Nevada and Utah for neighborhood emergency response team (NERT) supplies and public-safety outreach. Corso said Local 798 agreed to assume maintenance and all liability for the truck and that portions of the AAA gift were earmarked for NERT training supplies.
Committee members asked no substantive questions and no public speakers addressed these items during the meeting. Motions to move each item out of committee with a positive recommendation were made and accepted without objection.
The committee’s action forwards the resolutions to the full Board for final consideration and formal adoption.
